American Funds
Benefit your clients, your community and yourself...
|
Working together with community foundations across the country, American Funds has established a program that may encourage your clients to do the right thing for themselves and their communities. Many community foundations have added the American Funds to their investment mix. This makes it possible for you to recommend philanthropic gifts that will bring your client tax benefits while you continue to earn commissions and service fees. |
Here's how:
- Your client can make a gift to a participating community foundation in a number of ways, including cash, real estate, securities or other assets. The foundation, as owner of the contribution, decides how to invest a cash gift or proceeds from the sale of assets.
- You earn commission on assets you bring to a community foundation that are then invested by the foundation in the American Funds. See your American Funds Adviser's Guide for the commission schedule on sales at NAV.
- After assets are invested for 12 months, you will receive an annual .25% service fee (payable quarterly) for as long as those assets are held by the foundation and remain invested in the American Funds with you as the financial adviser of record.*
* for investments in money market funds, there is no commission and an annual .15% service fee.
Benefits of participating:
Raise your profile
Working with your community foundation can bring you into contact with local community leaders and may result in new business opportunities from individuals, families, small businesses and corporations in and around your community.
Increase your value to your clients
Helping to create a charitable giving plan that maximizes tax-saving benefits for your clients is a valuable addition to the financial planning service you provide.
Help your community
By encouraging your clients to work with your community foundation, you will be helping the foundation in its mission to strengthen the community and help those in need.
