Awards& appreciation Banquet Scheduled for

Waccamaw Community Foundation

 

Murrells Inlet, SC, (August 31, 2011) —The Waccamaw Community Foundation’s 4th annual Awards and Appreciation Banquet will be held on Thursday, September 8th at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Awards and grants will be presented to individuals and local non-profit organizations.  Cocktails will be served at 6 PM, and a formal dinner will follow at 7 PM. Tickets are $50 per person, and tables for eight can be reserved in the name of a family or business.  Tickets may be purchased online at  www.waccamawcf.org/donate/.

 

“Now more than ever, we think it is important to acknowledge the people and the charitable organizations that find ways to make great things happen, and we want to express our thanks to donors who give when times are tough. Because of them, the Waccamaw Community Foundation has awarded $500,000 in grants to over 65 non-profits so far in 2011.

 

Award and Grant Recipients:

  • The 2011 Clyde W. Port Catalyst Award – and a $1,000 annual grant – is being awarded to The Georgetown Salvation Army After-School Program.
  • Six Horry and Georgetown County non-profits will be recognized as Waccamaw Community Trust grant recipients.  The grants received were designated to help these organizations work on sustainability and a strategic planning process.

The Waccamaw Community Foundation is a public charity that was founded in 1999 and currently manages more than $18 million in charitable assets. The organization's mission is to rally philanthropic resources for the purpose of building a stronger community and a better quality of life for the people of the Waccamaw Region.
