MURRELLS INLET, S.C.: February 29, 2016 – Waccamaw Community Foundation, a grantmaking institution serving Horry and Georgetown Counties, has published its 2015 Annual Report, highlighting the organization’s strongest year on record. The Foundation awarded $2.6 million in grants, a 24 percent increase over 2014, and ended the year with $24.9 million in total assets, a 19 percent increase from 2014.
Key facts include:
- The largest share of grants, 29 percent, were awarded to nonprofits addressing Human Needs.
- 496 grants were made from the 123 different funds at the Foundation.
- 55 percent of grants were awarded to nonprofits serving Horry and/or Georgetown Counties.
In addition to being Waccamaw Community Foundation’s strongest financial year yet, 2015 was historically significant as the organization affiliated with Coastal Community Foundation, based in Charleston, on July 1st, 2015. With the hire of Karen Minogue as the Foundation’s new Director of Development in October 2015, Waccamaw is poised for another successful year in 2016.
2015 financial figures are for the period January 1st through December 31st, 2015.
