Waccamaw Community Foundation Names New Board Member
 
Myrtle Beach, SC, (February 14, 2007) — The Waccamaw Community Foundation is pleased to announce the election of new Board member, R. Thomas Harrell, a CPA with the statewide firm of Elliott Davis, LLC. Mr. Harrell graduated from the University of Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant in South Carolina and Florida. Mr. Harrell, previously a board member of the Central Carolina Community Foundation, joins a Board of Directors that includes James J. Johnson, Chairman; Harold Stowe, Vice Chairman; J. Robert Calliham, Treasurer; Thomas C. Stanley, Secretary; and Helen Andrews, David Bishop, Henry Carter, James P. Creel, John Draughn, Laura Jackson Hoy, Erick B. Ficken, Allen Jeffcoat, R.M. "Buddy" Lindsay, III, and Sam Scalise.

The Waccamaw Community Foundation is a public charity that was founded in 1999 and currently manages nearly $20 million in charitable assets. The organization's mission is to rally philanthropic resources for the purpose of building a stronger Community and a better quality of life for the people of the Waccamaw Region. In 2007 alone, the Foundation disbursed almost $1 million in grant money to 200-plus non-profit organizations.
