Waccamaw Community Foundation Announces $6,000 Grant to

SC’s Coastal Conservation Association

 

Murrells Inlet, SC –Waccamaw Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Coastal Conservation Association of SC (CCA) has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.  This grant has enabled the organization to purchase non-motorized Carolina Skiffs or “barges.” Volunteers are already utilizing the boats for marine conservation projects. This grant was made possible through the generosity of the Knight Foundation Fund for Horry & Georgetown Counties, a fund administered by the Waccamaw Community Foundation.

 

"We are honored to be the recipient of this generous grant,” said Scott Whitaker, CCA’s Executive Director. “The support of the Knight Foundation is allowing us to be proactive about tackling important conservation goals throughout our region.”

 

“We are delighted to extend support to an initiative that will make a difference to the natural resources that make our region so different and so special,”says Jonathan Kresken, WCF President.

 

Waccamaw Community Foundation would like individuals and businesses to know it is important for all of us to utilize our Foundation to make a difference with regard to the issues that affect one and all.  Regardless of income level or company size, individuals and businesses can set up donor-advised funds to meet the community needs.
