WCF Names New Board Member
Waccamaw Community Foundation Names New Board Member
Murrells Inlet, SC, (May 05, 2009) — Ruell L. Hicks, Jr. has been elected as the newest Board member of the Waccamaw Community Foundation. Senior Vice President for Wachovia Securities, Mr. Hicks has nearly two decades of experience in banking and finance. Mr. Hicks holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. He has served in numerous capacities on local, state and regional boards. Currently, he serves on the Legacy Advisory Council for Coastal Carolina University, the Parents Advisory Council for Wofford College and as a board member for the Horry Higher Education Commission and the Chicora Rotary Club.

Mr. Hicks joins a Board that includes Harold Stowe, Chairman; J. Robert Calliham, Vice-Chairman; R. Thomas Harrell, Treasurer; John Draughn, Secretary; and Rev. Cheryl Adamson, Helen Andrews, Pamela (PJ) Browning, Frank Bullard, Henry Carter, James P. Creel, Laura Jackson Hoy, Allen Jeffcoat, R.M. "Buddy" Lindsay, III, , Thomas C. Stanley and James Johnson, Past Chairman.
The Waccamaw Community Foundation is a public charity that was founded in 1999 and currently manages more than $14..5 million in charitable assets. The organization's mission is to rally philanthropic resources for the purpose of building a stronger community and a better quality of life for the people of the Waccamaw Region. In 2008 alone, the Foundation disbursed over $1.5 million in grant money to 225-plus non-profit organizations.
