** Clyde W. Port Catalyst Award 2010 **
The Clyde W. Port Catalyst Award was established in 2008 by the Waccamaw Community Foundation in honor and memory of Clyde W. Port, a founder and former Director Emeritus of the organization. The award was designed to recognize Horry and Georgetown non-profit organizations that exemplify vision, creativity, leadership and commitment in addressing critical community issues. A long time resident of Horry County, Mr. Port exemplified these characteristics as a tireless supporter of business, charitable and civic organizations. “The Clyde Port Catalyst Award will be presented to nonprofits that identify and respond effectively to an important present-day dilemma,” explains Jonathan P. Kresken, President of the Waccamaw Community Foundation. “We are looking for dynamic organizations that have demonstrated success in mobilizing their own resources and the resources of others to improve our community. That’s what Mr. Port did so well … He left this community a priceless legacy, and we want to honor his many contributions.” A non-profit organization may nominate itself or an individual may nominate a non-profit. The format for the nomination should be a letter, no more than two pages in length, with specificinformation explaining the organization’s efforts to make a significant difference in our community. The nomination must include the organization’s official name, the 501(c)3 tax identification number, address, telephone number and a contact person. The name, address and telephone number of the person submitting the nomination must also be included. Please submit only one nomination. The 2010 Catalyst Award winner will be announced at the Waccamaw Community Foundation's annual celebration September 9, 2010.
