WACCAMAW COMMUNITY TRUST

In 2005 The Waccamaw Community Foundation and The Sun News joined forces to start building a permanent endowment fund, known as the Waccamaw Community Trust (WCT), that will serve the growing and changing needs of the Waccamaw Region – now and forever…

Created by donations from area residents, the Waccamaw Community Trust is currently established at over $1,000,000. Every year, in perpetuity, the Foundation will grant the earnings from the WCT back into our Horry and Georgetown communities. Currently this amount stands at about $50,000 annually, but as the WCT grows, the earnings and grants back into our communities grow.

Each year, a group of WCT Donors are selected at random and invited to serve on an Advisory Committee.  This Committee works closely with the WCF Grants Committee and our Board of Directors to review and finalize grant requests from local charities.
