FUNDING FOCUS FOR 2010:
 “Support of Basic Needs that Foster Academic Achievement”

REQUEST FOR CONCEPT LETTERS
DUE BY 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2009
APPLICATION PROCESS

Nonprofit, governmental or other public groups interested in applying for grants from the Waccamaw Community Trust are invited to submit a concept letter describing the proposed project. The Waccamaw Community Foundation Grants Committee and the Advisory Committee will review the concept letters and choose a number of finalists to submit a full application.

Concept Letter Applicants should submit the following:

 

I.      A concept letter, which should be no longer than two typed pages and should include:

 

1.    The project to be funded

2.       Who will be involved in the project

3.       What the project will accomplish and how it will be accomplished

4.       How the proposal meets the funding focus

5.       Why the project is important for participants and other residents of Horry and Georgetown Counties

6.        The time frame for accomplishing the project

7.        How to keep the project going in the future (if applicable)

 

  

II. Organization Summary

 

III.   A separate budget page, listing expenses and brief descriptions of how each expense supports the proposal, should accompany the narrative description.

 

IV. Proof of your tax-exempt status – only one copy is necessary.


V.
    Either a signed copy of The Waccamaw Community Foundation’s Anti-Discrimination Policy affirming that your organization is in compliance with the statement, or a copy of your organization’s anti-discrimination policy – only one copy is necessary.



ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

1.       Projects must meet the funding focus

2.       Applicants can be any non-profit organization with an IRS 501(c) (3) designation or any governmental or public entity. (Groups or organizations that do not have IRS 501(c) (3) designations may only apply in partnership with one of the nonprofit designations listed above.)

3.       The group or organization must provide services or conduct the proposed activities within Horry or Georgetown Counties for the benefit of Horry or Georgetown County residents

4.       The Waccamaw Community Trust does not fund projects that further a particular religious or political doctrine


FUNDING RANGE

The Waccamaw Community Trust will award five (5%) percent of the balance of the fund as of December 31, 2009. Grants may range between $5,000.00 and $50,000.00.  All grants regardless of size will receive the same consideration.  Partial grants can be awarded.

The Waccamaw Community Trust, is a permanent endowment fund that was established in 2005/2006 to serve the growing and changing needs of charitable organization's in the Waccamaw Region.

WCT was created by donations from area residents.  Every year, in perpetuity, the Foundation will grant the earnings from the WCT back into our Horry and Georgetown communities. The grant amount annually is based on the Foundation's 5% Spending Policy.  As the WCT grows, the earnings and grants back into our communities grow.
