In the first six months of 2015, Waccamaw Community Foundation awarded $1,018,135.05 to nonprofit organizations through the generosity of our Donors and the WCF Grants Committee. Of the total amount awarded, $701,241.95 (69%) went directly to organizations in Horry and Georgetown Counties. Grants were awarded to a variety of nonprofit organizations providing educational, health, and other types of services. The graphic below provides a breakdown of the grants awarded by specific program areas, such as community services, education and the arts.
Compared with the same period (January-June) in 2014, charitable giving increased by $494,517.34. “We are very excited to see this increase in giving,” said David Bishop, Board Chair. “It represents that through working alongside of WCF, we can really help connect donors with the causes they care about.”
